Books 2005->
![]() | The Complete Guide to the Music of Genesis by Chris Welch, 2006 update of the 1985 book. A CD sized book that is anything but complete. You can judge this book by its cover, who is that between Mike and Tony? If that's Phil, it's the most distorted photo ever. Has a brief history of the band surrounding each album and a summary of each song on that album. 128 mostly B&W pages. ISBN 1844498689. |
![]() | Opening the Musical Box by Alan Hewitt 2006, update of the 2000 book. Alltogether not a bad book. It is quite long and full of information about Genesis and ALL solo projects, including tourdates. 352 pages ISBN 0 955486 602. |
![]() | Behind the Lines by Robin Platts 2007, update of Inside & Out from 2001. This is basically a biography book with many interesting anecdotes. The writing style is excellent and the production (including pictures - some gladly donated by The Genesis Museum) is very well done. The layout and production are very nice. Despite the small number of pages making in depth analysis impossible, many different topics are covered. 184 pages. ISBN 1-8949596-71 |
![]() | Genesis - La Boite a Musique by Frederic Delage France, 2007 update of the 1998 book. A french biography from the early days. Includes some nice B&W and color photos inside. Also has a section with a discography including books, videos, and solo projects. Many items gladly contributed by The Genesis Museum. An excellent production. 299 pages. ISBN 978-2-35249-016-8 |
![]() | Zagrajcie to jeszcze raz (Historia zespołu) by Maurycy Nowakowski May 2007. Polish biography of the history of the band and all solo careers. Looks like a basic and short biography, with only 7 average photos. 138 pages. ISBN 978-83-925465-0-4. |
![]() | W krainie muzycznych olbrzymów [oprawa twarda + obwoluta] (In The Land of Musical Giants) by Lukasz Hernik June 2007. This is a huge Polish biography, very comprehensive, 608 pages long. Despite my not being able to read any of it, the production is so creative and unique it makes it an enjoyable book to have. Many scans were gladly contributed by The Genesis Museum. In Rock Publications. ISBN 978-83-60157-27-5. |
![]() | L'éternelle révélation (The Eternal Revelation) by Abécé and Arnaud Babion-Collet September 2007. 197 page biography with small sections on just about all members and subjects. Only a small insert section of color photos. Editions de la lagune - ISBN 978-2-84969-075-8. |
![]() | Chapter & Verse - The very first autobiography written by Genesis members September 2007. 360 pages of history and interviews with many key people associated with the band. A tremendous work of art with interviews with any/all members and previously untold stories. Very large size. The photos are also excellent, but are mostly from the very early years and very late years. It could use more photos of the mid 70s. A few minor errors here and there. Otherwise an awesome book. Go get it! ISBN 0 207844 342. There was supposed to be a CD audiobook version ISBN 9 752890 182, but it looks to be on-hold or canceled. |
![]() | NewXcellent1 DX Japanese book by Yashima Tsukamoto, Ken'ichi Nakano, and Shinichi Otsuki - 2008 update of their 1999 book. This is basically a catalogue of bootleg CDs with track information, running times, quality ratings, catalog numbers, etc. There are definitely some interesting things in this book like the catalog numbers, running times, photos, and breaking down each year into which concerts were more heavily bootlegged. Most of the book is in B&W but there is a color section in the back for each recording. 464 pages total. No catalog number. More information here. |
