Collecting is a very strange hobby. It is basically the purchase of items that will never be used, for to do so would decrease their value. They will be put in plastic, cataloged, and enjoyed from a distance. Yet collectors will pay lots of money for this privilege.
In the case of Genesis collecting, it is even a bit stranger. A wise friend of mine ‘Art’ once said to me, “We are all sick. It has nothing to do with the music!” He was right, but I had never thought of it in that way. How could it not be about the music? I enjoy Genesis music and buy Genesis collectibles. It never hit me exactly what I was buying and how different it was from what I listened to.
One of the most collectible Genesis LPs ever made was From Genesis to Revelation. It has been released hundreds of times in any format and from any country imaginable. There are releases as far back as 1969 and as late as 2003. The yellow vinyl Japanese, red label mono pressing, In The Beginning variations, test pressings, boxed Decca logo, unboxed Decca logo, and on and on. For a collector this LP has the most interesting and valuable releases not only because of the many variations, but because it was the first and oldest Genesis release. It is also widely regarded as one of the weakest and least interesting Genesis music. Why then do I collect them?

It is a question with no logical answer. Only the collector knows why they buy the things they buy. I know people who collect only 12” LPs. I also know others who value paper items over anything else. There are some who mostly buy 7” singles. And there’s one Italian friend named ‘Art’ who prides his bootleg collection over all else. I can say I’ve spent more money on a single Genesis LP than almost any other single thing I’ve ever bought. “We are all sick, sick, sick!” Art would rightfully say.
Years ago Genesis collecting was very different. Without the internet and easy ways to communicate, collectors were lucky to find each other in the back of Goldmine or Record Collector magazines. Collection lists were often handwritten and sent in the mail waiting weeks to find out if even one item was interesting. What was the condition? What did the cover look like? Most rare releases had never been seen before in magazines or books. How do I know if I want it?

This is a very simple theory yet it impacts almost every facet of our lives. It says that people will tend to value that which is rarer regardless of quality. An example would be to sell two identical items and put RARE or LIMITED EDITION on one of them. Not only will people be more likely to buy the RARE one (other things being equal) they will also assume the rarer one is better quality.
Some Genesis collectors want to keep their items rare and mysterious so the perceived value will be higher. There were some I knew that would not let their items even be seen by anyone unless they bought it. What does the Portuguese “I Know What I Like” single look like? Are there good Genesis photos in this issue of Ciao 2001? Is the poster interesting? Sometimes the only way to find out was to buy it.

It is no big secret, but there are Genesis collectors who keep rare things to themselves. It is mostly in the world of recording collectors where this happens but can also be seen with collectors of any kind. A rare item is only allowed to be seen or heard by a small number of people. If someone else wants to enjoy the recording they must have something rare too, or they can’t have a copy. Why is this? It follows the rarity theory.
Things that are rare have more perceived value. An example would be any excellent radio recording like Montreal 1974, Wembley 1975, Pittsburgh 1976, etc. These are superb recordings as they were professionally recorded and broadcast several times. They also appeared on countless bootleg LPs and CDs. A rare recording collector would not value these recordings as highly as a poor quality audience recording, if this poor quality recording was very rare. They may even listen to this rare audience recording more often.
It is for these reasons that some collectors will not share their rare recordings, unless given an “equally rare” recording. It’s like a form of currency. One very rare recording may be worth two semi-rare recordings. But once it is seen, heard, copied, scanned, or photographed it loses its perceived value. Unfortunately, this mentality discourages sharing and encourages selfishness as sharing reduces the rarity.
So lots of people keep rare items in the hopes that they can find someone “worthy” of sharing it with. The result is that most Genesis fans will never be able to enjoy these items. The irony is that those who keep these recordings from the fans are also spiteful that there are others who keep rare items from them.

When I began my website many years ago I had to make a decision. I have spent many thousands of dollars on my collection. It involved countless hours of work and research, going to conventions, or reading through Goldmine (which is a huge task). Should I put my scans on a website that anyone with a computer can spend a few seconds and view for free? Should I offer an MP3 of a record that I searched years to find and spent thousands of dollars to buy? For me the only answer was yes, simply because the alternative was unthinkable.
Genesis collecting is not a one-man task. I have been helped by more people than I can count. People send me endless scans, copies, information, rare collectibles, and yes rare recordings. It would be hypocritical to take all that people have given, and then tell others “I won’t share”.
Genesis has never commercialized themselves like the Beatles, Kiss, or the Stones. There are no Genesis lunchboxes, pinball machines, or candy. For this reason no one can make a Genesis website like this without tremendous help from others. Today we have the benefit of the internet, high-quality scans, cheap photographs, CD writers, free websites, instant e-mail, etc. We must use technology to share these very rare items with any fans who want to enjoy them.

A record or any collectible is usually valued based upon rarity. Older records are harder to find, have less in existence, and are therefore more valuable. A record that was only a limited pressing of 100 will have more value than one pressed 1000 times, other things being equal.
Actual value can most easily be determined by looking at
. I realize this is
a very simplistic approach but there is a good reason why it works. A
collectible is only worth what someone will pay for it…consistently. It wasn’t
too long ago that a
pink label
Nursery Cryme LP sold for about $200, but since the value is probably less than
$30 it won’t sell for that much consistently.
In
an auction the item is sold to the highest bidder, and in an
auction there are
millions of potential bidders. Never before has such a large audience been
available to set the price bar.
Another interesting facet of internet auctions is
actual rarity. There are many items like the
Seconds Out music book,
Canadian Presenting
Genesis LP, or the
Brazilian Selling England by the Pound EP. All of these items were thought
to be rare at one time and sold for $100 or more. They are now worth less than
half of that because
sellers have
exposed the fact that far more of these exist than collectors once thought.

I wanted to include a section on buying and selling, mostly because I think there is a great misperception. If you look around the internet you can see people selling a lot of things, from Genesis and other bands too. They include t-shirts, photos, books, bootlegs (tapes, LPs, CDs, etc), buttons, light switches (really), stickers, etc. Many of these things are unofficial, but still sell quite well. The simple reason is that the band has not offered a comparable official item.
The problem is that some people have a very negative perception of the sale of items like these. They feel that selling bootlegs or other unofficial items takes advantage of unsuspecting buyers and the band itself. But a buyer can always make a choice whether to buy something or not. And especially for a band like Genesis, it may have been their only salvation.
Genesis have been touring for over 30 years but only produced a very small number of live LPs and videos, especially during the theatrical Gabriel-era. For a band that shines during their live performance, that is staggering! It was the recording and sale of bootlegs that has allowed us to enjoy many of these old concerts today. And it was actually my interest in Genesis bootlegs that sparked my interest in more Genesis music. Were it not for the bootlegs that I bought (The Bedside Yellow Foam, A Piece of the Action, Awed Man Out, etc) I may not be a big fan today.
When asked their opinion on bootlegs, Genesis have never expressed a dislike for them. They see fans buying bootlegs in addition to the regular releases, and many bands buy them for the bands they listen to.
It can also be expensive to record, produce, transfer from film, edit, dub, etc. Shouldn’t those who want to enjoy these recordings share in this cost? Is this different from sharing in the cost of printing t-shirts or photographs? If it was not possible to share in this cost then only the producer of the recording, t-shirt, etc would have the opportunity to enjoy it, or he would have to support the full cost and make all others for free.
The hypocrisy of “don’t sell bootlegs” is that many people who make this argument have also bought bootlegs. People shouldn’t sell bootlegs, but if it is sold to them it is ok? I find it hard to believe if they were offered a bootleg Lamb video for $1 they would not buy a copy. Or if offered $1,000,000 for one of their recordings I am sure they would sell a copy. And it is not more legal to trade or copy a bootleg than it is to buy or sell it.
I realize that modern technology has made bootleg sales diminish and less necessary for most people. I am not trying to criticize one person or viewpoint. I only wish to point out the fact that more than recordings (books, photos, t-shirts, etc) are ‘bootlegs’ and that there are many situations where there are benefits to the band and fans alike.
|
|
|
|
Since there are many fans from every part of the world, everyone has rules they use to conduct trades or to deal with others. Some of them I have heard:
|
|
And the list goes on and on. Some may sound funny or overcautious, but they are all real (except the potato one). Everyone I know has their own rules for their "trade" or how they deal with others. Some have even been known to purposefully reduce the quality of their trade. I have known some people to distort, incorrectly convert, or otherwise reduce the quality of the copies they send to others so only they retain the highest quality.
I do not bring up these rules to criticize them, only to call attention to how many there are and how many are in direct conflict with one another. How do two people with the "must receive trade before sending" rule deal with each other? What rights does someone have to tell others what they can and can't do with their recordings? The point is that everyone must be aware that they have rules and that other people probably have different rules. In fact, this phenomenon can be seen in any facet of life. Only by accepting these differences, bending our own rules when necessary, and not expecting others to follow our rules can we work together.
When I began creating this website many years ago, I had no idea it could grow to the tremendous size it is today. With over 4000 original pieces it is possibly the largest website of its kind for any band. Before this website, many of these items were unseen, myth, or otherwise unknown. Even decent quality photographs were almost unknown on the internet. It was my goal to change all this.
And putting a collection like this together is no easy task! Every scan you see here takes a great deal of time to make, research, catalog, and add descriptions. This can even include OCR software or re-typing so others can read the text from an article or the inside of a programme. In addition many scans must be cropped, color-corrected, sized, pieced together, or otherwise made to look as good as they can. This can take minutes or this can take hours. And since there are several thousands of scans, the work has been monumental.
![]()
![]() |
For this reason it saddens me that these scans are often times used elsewhere without permission or proper credit. Scans from my website have been used in books, other websites, forums, bootlegs, weeds, and magazines including Record Collector. Many of these were used with permission, but in some cases they were simply copied without even any credit given. It is digital theft…of something free! These items are free for the world to enjoy on a free website. What is the point of copying them in this way? The shame of it is that the scans on The Genesis Museum are screen-quality sized for easy download. When asked permission I have supplied print-quality scans for several books. But even today there are newsgroup messages that say something like, “Look what I found!” followed by a picture from The Genesis Museum without a credit. I spent hours researching, locating, purchasing, and scanning and they found it? I realize that this is commonplace in the digital world. Things are so easy to copy. In order to prevent this I had the option to stop adding to my site, add some code to make taking scans (and regular navigating) more difficult, or put some large GENESIS MUSEUM logo on each scan. Since all options really make the website bad I thought it was better to make the best scans I can. There will always be those who take advantage of others, but making it worse is not the answer. |
![]()
Some may ask "Why is this not complete?", "Where are the recent albums?", or "How can I get scans from the We Can't Dance tour?" Although these questions are very understandable, there is simply no way to incorporate all of the recent material and still concentrate on the rarities. In the 1970s, Genesis were at the height of their craft (in my opinion) but just gaining in popularity. Therefore, collectibles from the 1970s (especially the early 1970s) are very hard to find. By the 1980s (especially the late 1980s) Genesis was at the peak of their popularity, although in my opinion their low point musically. Collectibles from this later era were made in significantly higher numbers, are much easier to find, and are worth a lot less. And certainly by the 1990s items were being mass produced with the sole purpose of trying to make a collectible. Anyone who collects anything knows that collectibles cannot be created in this way. If it says Collector's Edition it is guaranteed to be produced in large numbers and is of little interest to true collectors.
For these reasons I have included a great number of details and items through the 1970s, a few tickets programmes and very rare items from the 1980s, and virtually nothing from the 1990s. By reducing the scope of the website to only these rare items, there is enough space on the site and hours in the day to keep it updated. Everyone can enjoy these rarities despite their limited quantities and high prices. Those interested in items from recent years should not have trouble finding and buying them from a multitude of sources.
It is also interesting that fans of other bands from Lindisfarne to Van der Graaf Generator to Patto have visited this site. Since Genesis have shared concerts with other bands, many non-Genesis fans have found these rare items useful. They have been able to use tickets, programmes, and information to support their favorite band's website. The stories they have shared show that all collectors are the same. We all have the same interests and the same struggles. This website is tailored to Genesis but it can apply to any band and any fan of collectibles.

Every time I think the website is finished, great new things are discovered. But as I said, this is much larger than I ever thought possible. It was not intended to be complete and it doesn’t have to be. The sole purpose is to allow many people to see the extreme rarities that few ever get to see. Many of these are one-of-a-kind items and worth hundreds or thousands of dollars. Without a website such as this, most people could not enjoy these items. But as I add more and more items, it is becoming clearer to me that the work is nearing completion. There will always be more items, but they are very similar to what is already here. It is better to offer the most interesting and highest quality items than it is to clog the pages with ‘just more scans’. I realize most casual viewers look at the site as say, “Oh, that’s nice.” But make no mistake: Blood, sweat, and tears went into what you see here. From some fans, to all others…

As I stated previously, this site would not be possible without the tremendous generosity of others. There were countless people who help with this site and I apologize that I cannot list all of them here. You all make a huge difference, but I have only had the privilege know a small number of you very well. Here they are…in no particular order:
![]() |
Mino – The largest Genesis collector I’ve ever known and a great friend. He loves the Gabriel-era and paper items best. Not only a monster collector of everything imaginable, but a truly generous guy. One of the nicest I’ve ever met. "With bubbles, no ice!" Bruno Tegano – Mr. 12” (no pun intended…that I know of). Collects official LPs and only official LPs, probably the largest collection of it's kind. He helped a great deal with the LP section of this site, especially the US test pressings. See his monster list here.Serge – Needs no introduction but is one of the saviors of the history of Genesis. Also a large collector, but sold many of his items a few years ago…much to the dismay of those who didn’t buy it (read: Art). Has helped a lot with anything and everything Canadian.Edouard Girod – Has helped more with this site than he knows. He’s always there to help or to bid on an auction for me when I am asleep. Thanks for the great times in France and also to his friend Franck.Max Demont - A Genesis collector like no other. Has made an excellent book on 7" singles, but never finished his work on the 12" book. He has helped me endlessly with magazines and programmes. I hope he learns English or I learn French before we meet again... Mike Polo – I’m not sure his specialty because he seems to buy a bit of everything. He once told me his massive discography is his collection…like collecting information. A great help with many items.Volker - A huge recording collector that helps a great deal with any recording information. Also knows several languages and helps with some of the text translations. Thanks for the great times in Germany!Maurizio - One of the largest recording collectors I know of with a large interest in video. He collects literally hundreds of bands in addition to Genesis. I had the privilege to see him and his great house near Siena. Davide - Runs a great Italian website with singles, bootlegs, and other interesting items not on The Genesis Museum. Helped with lots of items, especially 7" releases.Denis & Eduardo – Both spend a great deal of time scanning things for me and asking nothing in return.George German III - Although his poster collection is very large and probably the best part of his collection, he also collects a great many other things. He is the only collector I know of that collects everything, by every solo artist, every era, and every type of item. His expertise in packaging science has made storing his collection manageable (where mine often falls all over the place). Helmut Janisch / Peter Schütz - Run a great German fanzine and held an excellent convention in Germany. They helped me with many things...including working the German train ticket machine. Peter Reid - Runs a very reputable record store and has helped with a great many things. Mario Giammetti - Runs a great Italian fanzine and has sent me copies of his book and some other very nice things.
Paolo - A very
nice guy I see at conventions, concerts, and at the other end of an
Art – An Italian friend nicknamed ‘Art’. I don’t hear from him much anymore, but I had a great time picking through his tremendous collection. His expertise and great love is bootlegs and the history of bootlegs. Probably the single largest bootleg collection...even for music he doesn’t listen to. And I’m sick??? |

I'm always around, and sickest than ever, don't worry.... my only BIG problem is not having 36 hours a day! And your site is always bigger and better... Take care, you know where to find me, "Art"
May 28, 2003
This is the greatest tribute to a band that I have ever seen. Although I am 39 and been to endless Genesis shows, I never got to see Genesis with PG... I still pray someday they will re-unite again. Wherever, whenever, I will see that show. Thank you for this gift, from one fan to many others.
June 2, 2003

I apreciate the notes about authenticity in the exibits. I just bought a US promo poster from '73, and it was hard enough to find an original without serious wear and tear.
June 10, 2003
The drumkit phil used on the the lamb tour is still used today...in and around Barrow-in-Furness by a chap called "Blanny" who has played it since the late 70s !

June 16, 2003
Hi Adam, I really enjoyed reading your "Collecting" article - great stuff. I'm a collector, too (but with much less time and money ;-( )... I browse your homepage quite often, and still find things that I've never seen before. :) It's great that such a homepage exists. Keep up the fine work! Michael from Germany (LakeOfSilence on the Genesis forum ;) )
June 17, 2003
This is, without doubt, the very best Genesis site I have been priveledged to look through. So good, i would rank it even higher than my previous fave, the wonderful "strange band" Family site. Absolutely incredible. Full marks (with a bonus) to the gent responsible.
July 3, 2003
I am an avid Genesis collector for over the past 20+ years. Their music and lyrics had always been ahead of their time. Although not a Brit, this So Cal is their biggest fan! What we all need is a good fairwell reuniting tour with everyone! It can be done! I'll manage it! ;-) - bnap, So Cal
July 4, 2003
Great site!! I agree with So Cal! Please let us see the old boys on stage again.. Phil is going deaf so they better hurry!!! Genesis is much to great to go to sleep like they have been the recent years. All the best from Norway!

Great site. I'm amazed how many early Genesis fans are still out there in the world. Mostlikely these guy's will never do a farewell concert but I wished Mr.Gallo would release a second edition of his book with ALL of his pictures. Thanks Adam for this great gift and allowing me to go back in my youth. Anthony.

I am a much younger Genesis Fan (17) and your site has tought me alot about my favorite band. Thank you so much.
August 6, 2003
Hi, This is a great site but I am still confused about how one can get a copy of concert footage or recordings? I see these extensive lists posted of every live recording Genesis ever did, and the recording quality of these things but...are they not for sale because it is illegal? I can offer a good story (to anyone interested in hearing)of being allowed into Armando Gallo's basement studio at his home in LA-not with his permission but by his wife or girlfriend--it was absolutely amazing for fan. He had a long shelf of concert footage and I have waited now 20 years to see any of that stuff released commerically. Anyhow, can anyone direct me to sites where I can buy copies of Gabriel-era live shows? Thanks, this is a great site. John Thomas
August 9, 2003
Wow! What a show! Your site has the Genesis' touch!
August 12, 2003
As an old lover of genesis music and performance, god! how I wish they can reunite and play those old shows at least one more time. I think that We, the real genesis fans, have the power to make this dream come true, all we have to do is get together and collect as many signatures as we can demanding the band's reunion for that big concert we have been wating for. They did it once back in 1982 wich was for Pete's cause, this time lets call it "For the Genesis Fans" cause. Great web site, thanks
August 13, 2003
I do agree with the petition for The Great Reunion. I'm from Italy but I'd be ready to go everywhere for a reunion concert. If someone else would like the idea write here and think about the way to move. Of course congratulation for the site
August 22, 2003
Just wanted to say "thanks", for all the work that has (obviously) gone into this site and for posting it for all to see and share. I, too, suffer from the malady that is G-collecting!
August 22, 2003
fantastic website...I sure remember Peter "floating" during "Watcher of the Skies" at Allen Theatre in Clevelend in 72...amazing stage props...amazing music. Again, thanks for this website to remenise.
August 26, 2003
The first time I saw Genesis, was the first concert I ever went to and tickets were not issued as it was only a youth club concert. It cost me 3 shillings and sixpence and you got the back of your hand stamped with an ink star!! In support were a band called Gravytrain, the venue was The Leys Youth Club, Letchworth, Hertfordshire, UK and (I think) was Phil Collins first Tour with the band, when he sported a long goat-like beard from below his jaw-line, but not ON his face! I have no idea of your age, I am 47 and was about 14 at the time! The album was so new, they sang Harlequin from songsheets!! Fantastic days!! As you probably know, Charisma also birthed a lot of other interesting bands like Van der Graaf Generator and Audience. Good luck with continuation of a truly remarkable endeavour in this site!! Kind regards Simon
September 5, 2003
I have the misfortune of becoming a Genesis fan in 1976 at the age of 13. By the time I saw them for the first time the last of the Classic Line up has just left, Steve Hackett. It is not to say that the 78' tour was a let down, but in review of this site it could never have captured the magic of the previous period. Thanks for preserving the early days so well for those of us who just missed it.

having been a fan of the group since 1986(17 years now) all I can say is thank you for this sit and I ma sure to be coming back to it more and more as time goes on because without Genesis I probably would have never listen to music! Genesis was truly just that for my musical adventure and I would so like to see them again one more time before probably the greatest of all musicians and frontmen, Phil Collins retires. Keep up the good work and I'll be around Joshua L. Curtis Genesis fan since 1986 favourite song: All are good but Scenes from a night dream is a all time favourite! peace!
October 16, 2003
Hello, is it permitted to pose questions here? If so could anyone please help me with this, I have four different pressings of "A Trick of the Tail" Canadian (with light purple Atco label) British first pressing (with mad hatter label) A Dutch "first" pressing (with mad hatter label) And a British (presumably second or later pressing) with the "Charisma" in big blue letters label. What I'd like to know is how many pressings have their been through the years? I'm only interested in those that have the Sleeves in English. I'm aware of the MSRL pressing & the super duper Japanese pressing.
October 17, 2003
A great site!! with great info and pics. I'm a Chilean Genesis fan, and I'm always showing their music to everybody around me, the best band in the world!!! And Gabriel...incredible...the best. I have always admired these notorious musicians, since I was a child...oooohh!! Mrs. Crowe

genesis es el mejor grupo de rock sinfonico de la historia, aguante Peter Gabriel y phil collins, steve jaket.
October 19, 2003
What a fantastic site.. Although, perhaps you missed out in your "reasons for collecting" that you simply bought the record in the first palce because you liked it!!. I bought Trespass as a young student way back in 1971.. to be honest, because I liked the cover!! I liked it so much that I went back to the shop and asked if this group Genesis had produced any other stuff.. They eventually dug out for me a boringly black LP with gold lettering.. and without a thought that this might be a collectoruble dream I bought it.. what was it?? 75p??? From then on I was totally hooked.... the rest as they say is history
October 20, 2003
Wow, great stuff! When I was 17-20, all I listened to was Genesis (this was in the late 1990's). The Pete Gabriel pictures are especially cool. It's weird to think of how young they all were.

Tremendous, absolute work of art. The Group and fans should be eternally grateful to you. I feel that Peter Gabriel with all his diverse and difficult to keep track of output and Steve Hackett should be given the same treatment especially there 70's and 80's output. Once again a brillient job has been accomplished keep up the good work. It is fantastic that the site is open and free, this will mean that you will gather more contributions and the site will thrive and prosper.

This is the best Genesis site on the web, hands down! Does anyone know where one could obtain some Gabriel-Genesis 70's footage... US freindly VIDEO or DVD, preferably good quality Euro tv appearances and interviews...with lots of theatrics? I keep seeing these things listed on other sites but not for sale. Iwould very much appreciate to know if I can purchase anything that has been released (legally?). watching Gabriel strut around in costume again would really bring back happy memories! -Dutch

This is the only site that does this band justice...And believe me the trading communities outside of this site know about and praise this site daily. Almost everything worth having of early Genesis not commercially available comes from here and everyone is quick to give credit where credit is due. Bravo Adam, well done.
July 13, 2004
Your site rules! I am a madly obsessed Genesis freak too! I'm 20 and Unfortunately a bit too young to remember Genesis. I never turn thier music off. I'm a second year music major and I base my songs on thiers. Hopefully I am going to Phil Collins' concert in the fall. Anyway, I love looking at all the stuff on your site. THanks a lot.

Hello, there, As a real Genesis fan: this is a marvelous site, I can not think of any other site which share more photos, mags etc. than this one. Keep on the good work. For those (like me) who are to young to have ever had the pleasure to see Genesis with Peter live: Check out The Musical Box. This Canadian band are about to start (starting winter 2004) the exact replica of the Lamb Lies Down Tour, which Genesis themself played for over 100 times around the world. Check their site as well. I'll bet you can't tell the difference Greetings from Holland (Leiden)

Dearest Adam, This site is simply SPLENDID! I came to know Genesis only after Peter Gabriel had left the band, back in the mid seventies. The first thing I ever heard of theirs was Foxtrot. I was in love from the first hearing. I was used to coming late to the party, as I was too young to enjoy the Beatles when they were first happening as well. But, it has not stopped me from enjoying all that has been put out anyway. What makes this site so special is that for someone like me who is not a collector (I am not a good steward of things)is that I can see the original Nursery Crymes pink label. I can see these things and for me, that is enough. I appreciate your non elitist attitude toward all things Genesis and appreciate the generosity you and your comrades have shown to those of us who do not wish to possess, but simply to see. Thank you very much for all your time and effort. It really is appreciated.
November 21, 2004
I put a spell on Peter M. Reid and his Timelapse Records. I am waiting since more than 6 years to get news on his payment for my shipment to him with more than 100 items. If you read this, Peter... yes, I am Juan, from Spain, and you have a debt with me. Very reputable is not exactly the calificative to you.
November 22, 2004
I REALLY have enjoyed this site immensely; with a very few exceptions, one of the best fan-based fribute site for rare memorabilia and information. Hats off to the editors and creators; EXCELLENT pictures!

January 8, 2005
Fantastic site worthy of the band themselves. Excellent layout/info/pictures, all with underlying heartwarming original line-up emphasis. At the mo I'm building myself up for the musical box performing the whole of "Lamb lies down" - condoned very highly by original Genesis members and featuring the actual slides from the original shows.....Life spoils us sometimes!! Here's a lil' story I'd like to share - when I was 5 or 6 years old me and my mum went up (from Liverpool) to Yorkshire for the day and, as usual, I went missing. Poor frantic mum found me an hour later in a catholic bookshop......why?....'Cause I saw a book in the window that said 'GENESIS' and thought it was about the band.......and.....I couldn't find it. I felt like I was in the chamber of 32 doors looking for it. It just seemed like any other bookshop to me, and considering it was a catholic propaganda pushing shop, how come I never saw anything in there on Gabriel either?
January 12, 2005
Last month I saw the Musical Box tribute band peform the 30th anniversary tour of the Lamb, and was motivated thereafter to search the net for Genesis sites I had missed before. Lo and behold to he who life can no longer surprise (me!), I can upon this little corner of heaven. This site is extraordinary! The rest of us Genesis Freaks (Unite!) are totally in your debt! May 24, 2005
Great site, I´m very impressed! I thought I was the only (still alive) person on this planet who´s that crazy for the most bombastic rock-band in the world! I own a lot of music released by the band or also audience stuff like you. But as far as I watched your site I could see that you are much crazier than me! You seem to collect everything because of different prints or looks in general. This is cool, but how do you afford it?
May 26, 2005
genesis is the most important part of my life, now and forever, is art, love ,elegance, imagination and music in all sense of the word. genesis was a collective of songwriters with so much talent really "STEVE HACKETT".? SEBASTIAN CHILE

To all Genesis members: Thank you guys, cause you are my best friends, All the time that you played and singed to me, with no complains, all the time that I needed. With magical harmony in good and bad moments, relieving the emptiness and bringing comfort, helping us to carry our own weight, and making us lighter. Although we didn’t meet face to face, I meet you always in ears all the time. Keep it bright, and thank you, A.Cassel

I talk to the wind ... in the court of the genesis kingdom
December 20, 2005
I love the site, I am 17 and ever since I was first introduced to my dad's CD collection I have always loved Genesis, it started with wind and wuthering and progressed on, now I have every album on CD, and 2 days ago I bought a LP player, since then I have bought 11 albums including all the mixed albums from Trespass through to Duke, and the music together with the sleeve artwork is just the best. unbeatable. And I never thought I'd say this, but the Apocalypse in 9/8 is far better with faint crackles in the background, as I said before unbeatable. I'd have loved to have seen them perform live, being only 3 when they did the way we walk doesn't help. oh well, I can always enjoy the DVD of the way we walk, and in particular the drum duet, and the old medley with the supurb taborine solo courtesey of Phil Collins. Keep up the good work with the site. well done.

February 4, 2006
This is an incredible site! I truly respect all of the hard work that has gone into it. Being a young fan who wasn't even around when Genesis was at their peak in the early 70's, I recently had a chance to see The Musical Box on their Lamb Lies Down Tour. It was the most amazing concert I have ever seen. Second only to being at an actual Genesis show I am sure. I am glad that this site exists so that I can continue to imagine Genesis at its height! -Alex

Great job!! I may give any help what I can. I am a base/guitar player and our band finally performed full Lamb live recently in Japan. Does anyone know what double neck guiter Mike use through the Lamb tour ? I am using a custom 4/12 headless. Thanks.
March 13, 2006
from what i\'ve heard on a genesis reunion peter says there has never been a better time, phil's happy to site behind the drums and let peter sing, and steve wants it. also peter remains in contact with mike and tony. but im betting on waiting another year or to at least before anything serious happens.
great site, interesting reads. nice to see old stuff that i never had the chance to appreciate (given the fact i was born in \'90...)
